Yes. You’ll need a referral to see Dr Thou. The referral allows claims to be made from Medicare and your health fund. Referrals are valid for 12 months from your General Practitioner and 3 months from another specialist.
If you have a valid referral from your General Practitioner, then normally part of your consultation fee will be refunded by Medicare. Please note that Medicare does not pay for all your healthcare costs.
Your private Health Fund can only insure you for your in-patient medical care. This includes your hospital admission to give birth to your baby or for an operation.
If you have any questions or need further clarification on what is covered by your private health insurance please call Dr Thou’s secretary on 02 8065 4888 who will be happy to assist you.
During your initial visit, Dr Thou will explain the specific test or procedure you want, help you visualize the results and go over the risks. Dr Thou may do a physical examination and ask you a series of questions to understand your health situation. If you are having a test done, Dr Thou will decide what your diagnosis and appropriate treatment should be after viewing your test results.
